Yokai Hunter Shintaro presents the adventures of two heroes on a quest to restore balance between the human world and the Yokai kingdom. It will be your mission to kill the different bosses of each stage to restore order. Discover different worlds, forests, caves, volcanoes and release the three sacred beasts that will give you special abilities. Challenging non-linear stages and bosses. Choose between two characters with different ways of playing. Unlock skills that will help you during the game progress. Lore based on Japanese folklore. There is no dialogue and you’re going to see different parts of the story at different times, though I guess it could be considered as being a personal interpretation of the whole thing. All in all, I really recommend you to play the game, Annapurna Interactive games are part of my favorite as they always have something peculiar about them, a new take about puzzle for example when it comes to this one. Is it a game? Mechanicswise, it may feel tedious after a while, but it’s interesting to discover all the types of things–as the game calls them–that you can become. The audio snippets are interesting too, and while one may not agree with the views of Alan Watts, they may provide more guidelines to continue the journey to better know oneself. To complete the collection encyclopedia, you also have to play Everything as a puzzle, figuring out how to get to the specific places where you may find what you are looking for.
