About Rebirth Champions X:
I’ve played a bit of X4 on a friends account and had a lot of fun with it, but it is currently out of my budget. So when X Rebirth was on special I decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. I’ts no secret that X-Rebirth was a mess at launch. Luckily its been out for a few years now with a slew of updates and new content. I thoroughly enjoy space games, having played titles such as Elite Dangerous, Mass Effect, Rebel Galaxy and others, so please view the review in that context. The game is not like other games in the X series so if you pick it up expecting it to be X3 with better graphics you will most likely be disappointed. But if you are open to trying a new space sim and you are open to viewing it as its own game this title has a lot to offer. Sure you cannot fly all the ships in the game like in X4, but your ship has a great deal of customisation and really grows into a hero ship throughout the campaign. I’ts like my own serenity from firefly, there are bigger and (perhaps) better ships in the game but the Albion Skunk is something special. On the note of ships there re some really well designed and cool looking ships in this game. I loved outfitting my ships in Elite and you get to do a lot of that here with different weapons, shields and cockpit upgrades. Plus you get to build your own fleets and stations. That really filled a void that I haven’t felt in a game since playing homeworld. I really like the simulated economy as well, it reminds me a bit of EVE Online’s player economy. It really helps bump the realism a bit.
