About Outlaster:
This is one of the most adrenaline-pumping games I’ve ever played. Was it scary? Pretty much, yeah. It did have some “jump-scare” moments which almost made me jump out of my chair. Most of the “scary”, though, was the heart-racing intensity which comes from the nearly-constant situation of being chased by somebody or something, and you know that if you get caught you’re going to die. I’m a pretty calm person, but there were situations in ‘Outlast’ that made me panic to the point of losing my logical thought process and just running helplessly down the hall trying to get away. Ironically, that sometimes led to my death because I would trap myself in a dead-end. This game has what I call “Pay-To-Play” achievements. What I mean by that is you can’t earn all the ‘Outlast’ achievements by playing ‘Outlast’. You also HAVE TO buy the ‘Whistleblower’ DLC and complete it. Original game achievements should be just that… for the original game. DLC achievements should be for the DLC. It is soooo wrong for a game-maker to withhold original game achievements until the player spends more money buying DLC. The music volume was often too loud. There is no music volume control, only a master volume control, which is useless because it lowers the volume for everything. For example, when you’re hiding and can’t see much, one of the ways you know Chris is still around is that you can hear his chains clinking when he moves… at least in theory. Sometimes it’s hard to hear the chains over the music.Another example is Dr. Trager. In the section where I was with him, I could only hear half of what he was saying because the music was again too loud.
