About Ittou Shura Legacy:
As a fan of Studio Pixel’s other works, this was a game that I was excited for in the months leading up to its sequel. Getting to play it, a lot of things stayed true to the quality of Studio Pixel’s other games. The pixel art and OST are both phenomenal, and the game is able to convey complex thoughts with minimalistic output. That said, this game also has some flaws that definitely were noticeable and that can impact your enjoyment of the game. Note that as of the time of writing this review I have only gotten one ending, which appears to have been the true / good ending to the game. An issue that became apparent about 45 minutes into my run was having the ability to run off and get myself killed. This was mostly my fault for the mistake that I made, but something that became troubling really quickly was that it took me back to my last save point. The game has save points cluttered throughout but there is never any agency to save. With no combat present or any obvious signs of being able to get a game over, you end up having little reason to actually save. The punishment for not saving though can put you back quite a bit. You might be thinking for a dialogue heavy text based game you could simply just get back up to speed quickly by mashing through text, but this is not the case.
