Empires is my favorite version of the Warriors games series, because it adds more customization and strategy to the battles, rather than focusing on linear stories. It still has the same action elements, but more freedom of choice. This version also has remote play together, so you can include an online friend for the battles, although the game remains single player otherwise. For fans of this game, they are making a sequel, which I hope fixes the many issues with DW9. This game is worth a look, and an add to your wishlist for future sales, but it’s not recommend for the more casual player. The short version: it’s good. You can take over all of China, now, using a turn-based (every turn is a simulated month) system. It’s a little repetitive, because you will take over a territory, rest a month, and then an enemy army will invade that territory, so you’ve now played the same map twice in a row, and sometimes that twice becomes three or four times before you have a chance to move on.

Dynasty Warriors 8 PC Game pre-installed:

That aside, I don’t have any serious complaints with it. It’s slightly different in many ways from the regular Dynasty Warriors series, but the ability to strategize and take over regions is the largest change. There’s less of a focus on pick-ups/power-ups in this game, and your generals can all be assigned a specific number of troops for each fight, but for the most part it’s the same combat and characters that long-time fans of the series will recognize. There are strategems that can be selected before battles that give your officers special moves to employ. You don’t seem to have direct control over these, or when they happen, you just pick what you think would be most advantageous for the map in general, and roll with it. As a port, it doesn’t have the widest range of graphics enhancements, I wouldn’t call it “next-gen”, but it looks better than ps3. I didn’t have any problems with the porting, and my x360 d controller workefine. The inlcusion of a character edit mode, and the DLC for costumes for older games (especially, for me, DW3) make this a must buy for fans and a great (although the strategy parts can be confusing at first) place to start the series for newcomers. Very highly recommended. There’s also, inexplicably, no autosave, so save often.
