About Clicker Legacy:
There are enough satirical reviews, so I’ll try to write something more robust. I played it for a long time in the browser and did not hesitate to grab this Steam version. This is the king of idle games, in my opinion. Ironically, it’s because the game can be pretty engaging if you’re out to play actively and find interesting combinations in your never-ending goal to make more cookies. On the other hand, if you just want to leave it running, that’s fine too. I’m sure the game provides a worthwhile critique of aggressive and near-nihilistic devotion to capitalist expansion, but I’m just going to focus on the gameplay for the time being… You click the cookie to make cookies. Then you buy things that make cookies for you. Then you unlock upgrades that make even more cookies. Then you unlock minigames that allow you to make cookies while you make cookies. You make enough cookies to end the universe as we know it. But it doesn’t end. It goes on, because you need to make more cookies. If this sounds fun to you, you should try it out. The developer is and has been devoted to improving the game for years now, so we’re likely getting more cookie production, more cookie minigames, and – ultimately – more cookies. An underrated aspect of the game is its flavourful aesthetic, news headlines, and Lovecraftian comedy (without spoiling too much). With the variety of buildings, upgrades, and minigames, you can find the way you want to play. You can’t really play the game ‘incorrectly’. Do you want to just run it in the background and check in once a day to buy upgrades? Sure. Keep an eye on it to catch golden cookies? That works. Or try to run your minigames and spells in a way to chase incredibly large boosts of cookies in short bursts? You can do that too. It doesn’t matter, but it is fun. Just keep making cookies.
